State Goals and Objectives

1.
Goal: To increase the number of males participating in abstinence education and abstinence promoting activities.

Objective: Increase by 4 annually the percent of males participating in abstinence education and abstinence promoting activities.

Goal: To increase the number of parents, guardians or significant adults participating in abstinence education and abstinence promoting activities.

Objective: Increase by 12 annually the percent of parents, guardians or significant adults participating in abstinence education and abstinence promoting activities.

3.
Goal: To increase community collaboration and support for abstinence education and abstinence promoting activities.

Objective: Increase by 1 annually the number of local providers and agencies providing letters of commitment or support for abstinence programs.

4.
Goal: To reduce the birth rate among females 15-19 years old.

Objective: Reduce by 2.7 per 1,000 annually the rate of births to females 15-19 years of age.

5.
Goal: To reduce the unwed birth rate among females 15-19 years old.

Objective 1: Reduce by 1.0 per 1,000 (1998-1999) and by 1.5 per 1,000 (2000-2002) for each cohort the rate of unwed births to females 10-19 years of age. Age cohorts are 11-15; 12-16; 13-17; 14-18; and 15-19.

Objective 2: Reduce by 0.3 per 1,000 the rate of unwed births to preadolescents 10-14 years of age.
