National Goals and Objectives

1.
Goal: To reduce the pregnancy rate among females 15-17 years old.

Objective: Reduce as locally appropriate. Pregnancy rates are unavailable in Florida due to lack of age specific abortion data; therefore this goal is not reported statewide.

2.
Goal: To reduce the proportion of adolescents under 17 years of age that have engaged in sexual activity.

Objective: Reduce by 1.5 annually the percent of 9th-12th graders self-reporting sexual involvement in the Youth Risk Behavioral Survey (YRBS). Indicate any locally approved self-reporting tool that is used if the YRBS is unavailable.

3.
Goal: To reduce the incidence of adolescents 15-19 years of age who have contracted transmitted diseases. Florida will use rates of chlamydia and gonorrhea as a proxy.

Objective 1: Reduce by 150 per 100,000 annually the rate of females 15-19 years of age diagnosed with chlamydia.

Objective 2: Reduce by 75 per 100,000 annually the rate of females 15-19 years of age diagnosed with gonorrhea.

4.
Goal: To reduce the birth rate among females 15-17 years old.

Objective: Reduce by 3.2 per 1,000 annually the rate of births to females 15-17 years of age.
